Past
At a time when pioneers in the field of sustainability were being ridiculed as a greenie, some Austrian hoteliers decided to think outside the box and rearrange tourism. For mankind and the environment. An ambitious goal was set in 2001: provide certified organic quality in tourism and offer guests a unique sustainable hotel experience. But how could this be done? After all, the supply of goods was still a great challenge at that time. Over the years, numerous challenges were taken, partnerships were established and many more hotels participated.
Present
A lot has happened since the idea finally got started. With energy, motivation, passion and the support of numerous partners, the hotel offer became a more and more holistic concept. Today, BIO HOTELS are the absolute pioneers of green tourism and offer you the most sustainable hotel experiences on the market. The days when environmentally conscious guests had to sacrifice their sustainable lifestyle on vacation or business trips are long gone. Day by day we convince with consistently certified organic quality, regionality, renewable energies, natural cosmetics, low CO2 emissions and much more. With us it is easy to travel, relax, meet and enjoy in an entire sustainable way.
Future
As a community of shared values that inspires, our hoteliers continue to focus on ecological development in tourism. They shape the development for sustainable relaxation and hospitality and always set new goals. Whether it is to minimize the ecological footprint of their houses, to save plastic or to advance ecological processes as a role-model for sustainable economic activity on earth. Our next ambitious goal has already been set: we want to become the first climate-positive hotel association by 2023.

- Certified organic quality: The best certified organic quality awaits you in all of our BIO HOTELS. This is checked at least twice a year by independent control bodies. There is no such high amount of security and transparency anywhere else in tourism.
- Certified organic and natural cosmetics: Whether in the bathroom or during your wellness treatment - in our BIO HOTELS we offer you certified organic and natural cosmetics according to the COSMOS standard. With miila mi we also present our own organic cosmetic line.
- Climate neutrality or positivity: We are industry-wide pioneers when it comes to climate protection. Every two years we record our carbon footprint to continuously optimize our emissions. There is no other international hotel association in the world where you can spend the night with such low CO2 emissions. By 2023 we will even become the first climate-positive hotel association.
- Renewable energies: We only use 100% certified green electricity in our houses. Electrical energy comes from renewable sources.
- Regionality: Honey from our own bees, fruit and vegetables from the garden, products from the farmer next door and materials directly from just around the corner - regionality and short transport routes have a particularly high priority to us.
- Building biology and natural materials: In our BIO HOTELS we value natural room furnishings and bedding. We also make sure that new buildings and renovations are carried out using the best materials in terms of building biology.
