Edersee National Park

The nature park Kellerwald and the national park Edersee are jewels in our landscape!

Whether it’s spring, summer, autumn or winter there’s much to discover and experience. The national park Kellerwald-Edersee, the first in Hessen, covers nearly 6,000 hectares and protects the most extensive uninterrupted area of snowy woodrush and beech forest in central Europe.

As well as being a source of relaxation and information, the aim of the national park and the nature park is to make visitors sensitive to the wild environment and its future.

The Edersee is a lake with excellent water quality that offers water sports enthusiasts all the activities you associate with a big lake. Beach bathing, open-air swimming pools and promenades along the banks tempt visitors to enjoy carefree bathing and going for a stroll. Many of the bays are a real paradise for anglers, while others are perfect for surfing, sailing, water skiing and diving.
