    The Hotel Ucliva was Switzerland’s first eco hotel. Already 30 years ago, the founders had a vision of sustainable tourism in the mountains. Hotel manager and owners consequently followed this vision, and improvements are constantly being made, for the well being of our guests and our environment. Purchases are mostly done locally. All products are certified. The hotel is heated with local wood and the sun, which means climate-neutral, and we consume eco current with the label naturmade star only. For that reason, the magazin Geo Saison choose us in January 2011 as one of the best 100 hotels in Europe. This award honored our efforts and motivates us to go further ahead in the that direction.

    Our teas are in the majority from the Hamlet Cantone in the Lago di Poschiavo. The pyramid bag form allows for larger leave and flower parts to be used, and it does support a very good diffusion.

    Painting of the Waltensburger Master
    The paintings of the Master cover the complete north wall of the church ship, as well as parts of the north- and south wall towards the edges. The prominent topic is the suffering of Christ. The painted figures contrast to a blackandblue background and are wearing ocher yellow, red and olive green garments. Christ is always dressed in grey. The inner north wall shows two horizontal strips telling the passion of Christ with the last meal, alongside the Saints and Apostels. On the outer south wall depicts a scene with the worship of the kings and Saints, Archangel Michael, crests and a cruxifiction scene. These paintings onlay appeared in 1972.
