But the sights, culture and history of this coastal strip of Spain will captivate you as well!
The Costa Blanca, meaning white coast, is an approximately 150 km strip of coastline in the Province Alicante. The coast owes its name to the traditional whitewashed houses.
The landscape of this region is characterised by marvellous kilometre long sandy beaches, steeply sloping coastline with isolated bays for bathing, fertile green valleys with masses of fruit trees, majestic mountains in the background and sleepy villages in the interior.
On account of its mild Mediterranean climate and an average temperature of 18 C, the region is a favourite holiday destination. The best known towns along the Costa Blanca are: Denia, Javea, Moraira, Calpe, Altea, Benidorm, Villajoyossa, Alicante and Torrevieja. But tourist don’t just flock to the coastal towns like Denia, Moraira, Altea and Benidorm – they are also attracted to places in the interior like the Jalon Valley, the famous town Elche and the nearby mountains.
Today, the Costa Blanca still has much of the easygoing lifestyle so much admired by most Europeans. Throughout the year countless fiestas are held, during which the local people celebrate with good food and wine, traditional music and lots of fireworks.
The Costa Blanca has something for everyone – whether you prefer to spend your holiday on the beach, to take advantage of the many outdoor activities or to go on a journey of cultural exploration.
