Silberregion Karwendel / Schwaz in Österreich
In this region holiday-makers find themselves in a stunning and varied mountainous landscape. More than 100 km of maintained paths around Schwaz lead you to places of rare natural beauty. But the visitor should take advantage not only of the wonderful countryside but also of the unique culture of the region.
In the old town centre in Schwaz and in the town’s silver mine, you can still see evidence of its past as the silver mining capital of the world in the Middle Ages, or you can enjoy the thrill of discovery in one of the many places of interest: galactic experiences in the Zeiss Planetarium, cultural treasures from Africa and Asia in the Museum of Art and Ethnography (Haus der Völker) and the culture and music festivals (Silbersommer/Klangspuren Festivals), jazz in the Eremitage or the local theatre (Theater im Landbräukeller).
The historic old part of Schwaz, with its little shops and cafes, invites you to a leisurely stroll through the streets, and in the nearby village Pill you can see how it has retained its typical Tyrolean village character.
The ski slopes of the sunny Kellerjoch are something exclusive for the real aficionado! But no matter whether you are looking for top quality prepared pistes, cross country circuits, tobogganing or somewhat more demanding ski tours – in Schwaz you’ll find plenty of variety.
This region is also ideal for families. Unique features are the cross-country circuit at more than 1000 m above sea level and the torchlight toboggan parties. And that’s not all - skis and ski courses for children are provided free of charge.
If you looking for even more relaxation, you are sure to find it in the sauna, the solarium, indoor tennis courts or the indoor pool, having fun in a ski hut or Après-Ski. Enjoy the hospitaility of Tyrol and let your body and mind relax! more about this holiday destination |
